Project Zero Tolerance

The Arizona Department of Juvenile Corrections remains committed to the safety and security of juveniles and staff in our facilities. The Agency understands that meaningful treatment, education and rehabilitative services are interdependent, however to be successful in our mission, the goal of providing a safe and secure environment for committed youth in our care must be paramount. Making improved changes in our Agency will require a team effort and only a focused commitment on cultural change can regain the trust of the community and rebuild relationships with stakeholders.

As a next step toward that goal, the Agency is instituting Project Zero Tolerance – a declaration that all sexual, physical, and verbal abuse is deemed inappropriate and unacceptable behavior. While this message should be self-evident, it must be made clear that any form of abuse perpetrated by youth or staff will not be tolerated.

Families of committed youth and ADJC staff who have knowledge of such behavior are encouraged to contact Director Branham directly on his cell phone at 602.908.3447, or send a message to the newly established e-mail address: zerotolerance@azdjc.gov, which will bring the matter directly to his attention. You may also call Inspections & Investigations at 602.542.5490.  Project Zero Tolerance will sustain our collective efforts so that we can achieve our mission, “Safer Communities Through Successful Youth”.
