Human Resources Bureau

The Human Resources Bureau is tasked with facilitating a forward thinking approach to providing effective policies, procedures and support to all Arizona Department of Juvenile Corrections (ADJC) employees. The Bureau is responsible for ensuring ADJC operates in compliance with applicable Federal, State, and Local employment laws, rules and policies.

The Human Resources Recruitment Office is responsible for attracting and retaining talent, drafting position descriptions and job announcements, and posting announcements on the State's job board, and various other advertising outlets. This team screens, tests, pre-qualifies and sources applicants for hire, facilitates the use of On-Board Arizona for new hires, and conducts new employee orientation. EMPLOYEE RELATIONS (602) 542-9258
The Employee Relations Unit embodies the agency's efforts to facilitate professional and effective working relationships, while providing equal employment opportunity actions and diversity issues among staff. The Employee Relations Officer is tasked with ensuring fair and consistent treatment to all employees in matters dealing with performance and behavior counseling, coaching and discipline, complaints, and conflict resolution. The unit is fully committed to providing Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) to all employees and applicant’s based on merit, without regard to race, sex, color, national origin, religion, age, sexual orientation, or disability.

OPERATIONS (602) 542-9261
Operations encompass all facets of the Human Resource Information System (HRIS) and data entry, employee pay, report management, position control, performance management, employment verification, extended leave administration, and supply requisitions. Benefit administration is also an integral part of this team's responsibility and the Personnel Supervisor serves as the agency's liaison to the State's benefits plan administrator. This team consults daily with employees who experience work and life changes that impact positions, benefits, retirement eligibility, and pay. Additionally, the team consistently analyzes salary compensation within and across classifications and makes recommendations to prevent and or address pay inequities.

STAFF DEVELOPMENT
Staff Development and Training is responsible for the administration and delivery of a training program that helps to build and maintain a quality workforce enabled to accomplish the agency’s mission of enhancing public protection by changing the delinquent thinking and behaviors of youthful offenders committed to the Department. To accomplish the training mission, staff participate in In-Service Training, New Employee Orientation, and Pre-Service Training (Cadet Academy).
