Continuous Improvement Bureau
In compliance with Arizona Revised Statute (ARS) § 41-2804(A)(5), the Continuous Improvement Bureau is responsible for gathering, analyzing, organizing, and compiling data used for responding to information requests, completing studies, and preparing reports for the Director, the Governor's Office, the Legislature, and other persons or entities as authorized. The Bureau emphasizes the use of recidivism data to support public safety and enhance a juvenile's progress in treatment, readiness-for-release from secure care and successful discharge from Community Corrections. We facilitate and promote the implementation of various new agency programs as well as state and/or national initiatives to include the Arizona Management System and the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) Standards.
The Bureau also serves as the authority which develops and maintains agency policy that guides professional standards of practice and accountability of all functions within the agency. Policy is a management tool for directing staff behavior and communicating the agency’s vision, values and guiding principles. Policy analysts examine existing policy and research to identify what needs to be addressed with new policy. This work can include compiling statistics, reading reports and synthesizing the information into a meaningful document and helping with the actual drafting of policy language.
