Arizona Revised Statute (ARS) §§ 41-2804 and 41-2818 authorize the movement of youth from Adobe Mountain School to the community for continued supervision and management. This occurs after a determination by the Department that a youth is not likely to be a threat to public safety if released from Adobe Mountain School, and that the youth's continued treatment, rehabilitation and education in a less restrictive setting are consistent with the public's safety and interest. Youth may be granted conditional liberty (parole) and placed under the care of the youth's parent or legal guardian or placed in a community-based treatment center.
Upon release from Adobe Mountain School, youth under the age of 18 receive community-based supervision and treatment. Services include re-entry and transition planning, parole supervision, case management, community provider services, family programming, and educational services. Each youth who is placed on conditional liberty is subject to the conditions imposed by the Department, including an assignment to an educational program. When conditional liberty is granted, the youth shall receive and sign a copy of the terms of conditional liberty.
Community Corrections Parole Offices have been established in Coconino, Maricopa, Yavapai, Pima and Yuma Counties. Such centers allow youth and family intervention via Parole Officers and Family Services Coordinators.
