Addiction Medicine: Branch of medicine that manages orders related to substance use and abuse.

Audiology: Branch of health care that manages hearing disorders, including evaluation of hearing function and rehabilitation of patients with hearing impairments.

Cardiology: Branch of health care that manages diseases and abnormalities of the heart.

Dermatology: Branch of health care that manages diseases of the skin, hair, and nails.

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy: A type of cognitive behavioral therapy that helps a person manage painful and negative emotions that interfere with the development and cultivation of healthy relationships to others and to oneself.

ECG (Electrocardiogram): A test with skin pads placed on the chest showing the electrical activity of the heart.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing): Psychotherapy treatment made to help people who suffer from traumatic memories by helping new associations form.

Endocrinology: Branch of medicine that manages diseases related to hormones, like the thyroid.

Otorhinolaryngology or ENT (Ear, Nose, and Throat): Branch of medicine that manages diseases related to the ear, nose and throat.

Gastroenterology (GI): Branch of medicine that manages disorders of the stomach and intestines.

Hematology: Branch of medicine that manages diseases related to the blood.

Lab Tests: help practitioners screen for illnesses or detect illnesses by evaluating the blood.

Mobile X-Ray: X-ray equipment that can be brought to the patient and done at the facility.

Neurology: Branch of medicine that manages diseases and abnormalities related to the nerves and the nervous system.

OB / Gynecology: Branch of medicine that manages pregnancy, childbirth, and disorders of the reproductive system.

Ophthalmology: Branch of medicine that manages disorders and diseases of the eye.

Optometry: The practice or profession of examining the eyes for visual defects and who make corrective lenses.

Oral / Maxillofacial: Branch of medicine that manages diseases, injuries and defects in the head, neck, face, jaws and the hard and soft tissues of the oral (mouth) and Cranio-maxillofacial (jaws and face) region.

Orthopedics: Branch of medicine that manages disorders and deformities related to the musculoskeletal system, particularly the spine, joints, muscles, and back.

Phlebotomy: Drawing blood for lab tests.

Physical Therapy: Branch of medicine that manages disease, injury, or deformity by physical methods such as massage, heat treatment, and exercise rather than by drugs or surgery.

Podiatry: Branch of medicine that manages disorders, or diseases of the feet.

Psychiatry: Branch of medicine that manages disorders related to neurochemical imbalances in the brain and nervous system by prescribed medications as well as non-medication approaches to treat mental and behavioral health issues.

Psychology: Branch of health care related to behavioral and mental health who specialize in the evaluation, diagnosis and treatment through non-medication interventions, like psychotherapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and EMDR.

Radiology: Branch of medicine that manages x-rays and other high-energy radiation for the diagnosis and treatment of disease.

Ultrasound: Imaging method that uses high-frequency sound waves to produce images of structures within the body.

Urology: Branch of medicine that manages disorders of the male and female urinary tract and the male reproductive organs.

41-2805. Health care

A. The director may provide medical, dental and health services for committed youth. The director may contract for professional services to assist the director in carrying out the responsibility on behalf of this state if all of the records in connection with the services are made and retained by authorized or qualified medical and professional personnel and not by any youth. The records when not in use shall be retained in a safe and secure place.

B. If a committed youth who is not residing with the youth's parent or legal guardian is in need of medical, surgical or dental care, and a spouse, adult next of kin or legal guardian is not immediately available or has not previously given authorization for such care, the director or the director's authorized representative, on the recommendation of the attending physician or dentist, may authorize the performance of such necessary medical, surgical or dental service.

41-2807. Medical services; rate structure

If a youth in a secure care facility requires health care services that the department, the facility or a provider contracted by the department cannot provide, the department shall pay approved claims from a facility or provider that provides these services as follows:

1. For inpatient and outpatient hospital services, the department shall reimburse at a level that does not exceed the reimbursement methodology established pursuant to section 36-2903.01, subsection G, unless the department has a contract with the vendor.

2. For health and medical services, the department shall reimburse at a level that does not exceed the capped fee-for-service schedule that is adopted by the Arizona health care cost containment system administration pursuant to title 36, chapter 29, article 1 and that is in effect at the time the services are delivered.
