Adobe Mountain School - Secure Care
All new admissions placed in Adobe Mountain School receive rehabilitative programming appropriate to the youth's age, risk, needs, abilities, and committing offense(s). This includes a comprehensive screening, assessment, classification review, and orientation regarding the Department's policies, procedures, rules, programs, and services. The Reception, Assessment and Classification (RAC) process occurs in the first 23 days after the youth’s arrival. Upon completion of all identified and required screenings and assessments, a Classification Assessment Summary (CAS) is completed and the youth is assigned to a housing unit to develop an individualized Continuous Case Plan (CCP). The CCP is an ongoing plan that changes and adapts to reflect the needs and progress of the youth and follows the youth through transition back to the community.
Youth behavior management is a process that ensures the safety and security of youth, staff, and other persons at Adobe Mountain School. In addition, it ensures an undisrupted environment in which all youth services can be effectively provided. Each day is operated through a highly structured, disciplined, and organized program schedule. Throughout the day correctional staff monitor and manage youth movement within the complex and a wide variety of work sites. In addition, ADJC utilizes Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS) as a framework for providing behavioral support for youth socially, emotionally, and academically. PBIS is evidence-based, with multiple and varied approaches. Research has been conducted to confirm the effectiveness of its principles and strategies. Emphasis is placed on prevention and the sustained use of effective practices. PBIS applies a team-based approach to problem solving using data driven decision making.
